Junior Hong Kong Schools Speaking and Debating Tournament

To enhance the debating skills of our junior students, our school joined the Junior Hong Kong Schools Speaking and Debating Tournament organized by the Hong Kong schools Debating and Public Speaking Community on 15th April. 22 teams with each team consisting of 3-8 debaters took part in this competition and all debates were in the Worlds School debating style. In the preliminaries, we defeated 4 schools, Renaissance College, St. Joseph’s College, St Stephen College and True light Middle School. We managed to enter the ESL semifinals, where 4 teams would battle it out to find the champion. On the 22nd April, we were against the highest scoring team Diocesan Girls' School for the semifinals and we still managed to get a unanimous decision of 2-0 against DGS. In the grand finale, we were against Carmel Middle School. We won by a vote of 3-0 and won the Champion of the ESL division. Our third speaker Lachlan JUDGE (3D) was chosen as the best grand finals debater. Apart from the joyfulness of winning the competition, our debaters also gained a lot of valuable knowledge and insight of debating, thus enhancing their debating skills.
