The competition aims at promoting science and innovation, as well as stimulating students’ creativity, imagination and interests in science. Under the supervision of Ms H.T. Wong, three S6 students Lui Man Hin, Benjamin, Chiang Man Fung, Ronald and Lo Chun Tung, Raymond submitted their research work to the competition and eventually won the 1st runner up in the “Biology and Health” category in Senior Secondary Division.
With the topic “Beware of Raw Beans”, the research focuses on the protease inhibitors present in soybean and bean sprouts, together with the appropriate way to prepare soymilk. After months of laboratory work, experimental data was analyzed and presented in a detailed report.
The group successfully proceeded to the Final Judging Panel after screening of reports in February. An exhibition booth was set up and the project was presented to the Final Judging Panel which was formed by a group of university professors on 26th March at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Later on that day, a public exhibition was held where students could share their projects to the general public and other contestants.
