Name of Organizing Body:
English Department, English Elite Team and English Society

Students at King’s College are always encouraged to strengthen their English language skills through activities related to topics that they are interested in including customs and culture around the world. This year, “King’s Halloween” was proudly presented by the English Department, English Elite Team and English Society. From 3 to 31 October 2016, a number of fun-filled and spooky Halloween events were organized for both our students and teachers. Inspired by their English teachers, the S1-S3 students designed a number of creative Halloween masks and characters together with a short piece of description during their English lessons. Some outstanding artworks were showcased which demonstrated students’ spirit of discovery and their ability to innovate. Another Halloween attraction was the Haunted House at the Activity Room from 18 to 20 October. With expert make-up artists and a cast of creepy characters, the attractions at the Haunted House certainly inspired fear for most students in the name of fun and Halloween.

The highlights of the Halloween series were definitely the Inter-class Apple Bobbing Competition and Halloween Fun Fair on 28 October and 31 October respectively.

In the Inter-class Apple Bobbing Competition, representatives from the junior forms, English Elite Team members, and five teachers had exciting apple bobbing competitions. The winners received a certificate and a present from the Principal.

On 31 October, we invited a special guest to play “Trick or Treat” and take snapshots with students. To all the students’ surprise, the special guest was our principal, Mr. TANG Kai-chak. Many students and teachers rushed to get candies from him and take photos.

“King’s Halloween” was successfully held which enabled students to learn English while having fun and get closer with their teachers and the principal. Not only did the students actively participate in all the exciting Halloween games and activities, a lot of teachers also joined the fun with exhilaration.
