The World Scholar’s Cup

Date: 22/11/2016

Name of Organizing Body :
World Scholar's Cup Foundation

In November 2016, our students participated in the ‘Tournament of Champions’ of World Scholar’s Cup at Yale University in US, after qualifying in the regional round in Hong Kong in March and the Global Round in Bangkok in June. Students from over 200 schools across the world participated in this competition. The Scholar’s Cup with the cute South American ‘Alpaca’ as its mascot, promotes academic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, team work and internationality. This world-wide competition not only tests students’ writing, debate skills and knowledge of the content in the global study topics of History, Science, Art, Literature, Music, Current Affairs and a Special Area theme, but it also provides opportunities for students to meet and listen to noteworthy speakers. This year’s theme was ‘An Imperfect World’. In spite of the intense competition, our students rose to the occasion and won with flying colours, grabbing a total of 3 gold medals and 9 silver medals in the Junior Division, which showcase our students having excellent speaking and debating skills and possessing in-depth knowledge of different domains.
