Under the theme of 'Building Bridges, Connecting Cultures', the First Leg of the 17th Singapore- Hong Kong Exchange Programme took place in July 2018. Fifty-eight S.2 students from four government secondary schools and three aided schools participated in an eight-day educational and cultural immersion programme in Singapore, which was co-organised by the Education Bureau and the Singapore Ministry of Education. During the stay, Hong Kong students were attached to six Singaporean schools, paired up with Singaporean student buddies and arranged to stay in host families. Besides regular learning in the classroom, the Singapore schools organised two centralised programmes for our students, including visits to the National Museum of Singapore and Gardens by the Bay.

From November 3 to 10, the Singapore teachers and students paid their return visit to Hong Kong. For students, the reunion with their buddies has further strengthened their friendship. To enrich their learning experience, they visited the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and joined the Youth Education Series Programme at the Hong Kong Disneyland. These wonderful educational and cultural experiences for students and the unique connection established between Singapore and Hong Kong teachers will remain in our hearts forever.
